Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
(Exodus 20:12 [KJV]
I wrote a poem for mother's day, to be sung to the tune "Morning has broken"
Water Has broken
Sung to the tune of Morning has broken
Water has broken, labor has started
Baby is coming, ready or not
Nine months of sickness,
pain and discomfort
Culminate in such distress and travail
Moments of fear and in-trepidation
Time to endure it through to the end
all of this suffering all through this trial
Will Bring forth life and joy in the end
Hear the first cry of
your newborn baby
time to embrace it safe in your arms
Pain is forgotten
Joy overwhelming
It has been worth it by far after all
What is one day worth? What is one hour?
Without your mother there would be none
No bright happy mornings
No sunsets in evening
These are the gifts of your mother to you
Children remember your mother to honor
you owe to her your existence and being
What is the value? What can you give her?
Give her your honor, affection and love.
