children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD,
they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more:

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it;
but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed,
neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land,
strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate,
as overthrown by strangers.” Isaiah 1:4-7
Judah was judged because of her corruption. The warning of Isaiah to Judah must be taken as a warning to any nation that has been given the Gospel of Christ and should know the ways of righteousness but instead is filled with corruption, wickedness and evil!
Like Ukraine.
Why are we so horrified? Why are we so surprised? Who is the Ukraine and what have they contributed to world peace and the cause of Christ?

It came to pass in 1648 that there was a Cossack officer named Chmielnicki (may his name be blotted out) … who was extremely wealthy, cunning, and a brave warrior.
Many Jews in communities who could not flee … were killed for the sanctification of God’s name, cruel and harsh deaths. Some were skinned alive and their flesh thrown to the dogs, some had their hands and feet cut off and were thrown in the road to be trampled by horses … Some were buried alive. 100,000 Jews were slaughtered, 300 communities were destroyed in this Ethnic cleansing committed by Cossaks against the Jews.
Ukraine was one of the first Communist countries and one of the founding nations of the USSR.
In December 1918 the first execution of the head of the Ukrainian Exarchate Metropolitan of Kyiv and Halych took place. This was only the start which culminated in mass closing and destruction of churches (some standing since the days of the Kyivan Rus) and executions of clergy and followers. Before the start of the second world war only 3 percent of parishes remained open the rest being shut down and their property stolen by the government. The remaining churches allowed to be open were under strict control by the communist party.
The eradication of Christianity in Ukraine led to moral degradation and the rise of murderous militia’s called the Einsatzgruppe which cheered on Nazi Germany, supported the Nazi’s as liberators and then carried out the Nazi genocide of Jews.
During World War 2 the largest single mass killing of Jews happened in the Ukraine. In just two days, September 29-3oth 1941, 34,000 Jews were executed in a ravine just outside Kiev by a the Ukrainian “NAZI” militia called Einsatzgruppe .

“In the Rumbula Forest outside the ghetto in Riga, Latvia, 25,000–28,000 Jews were shot on November 30 and December 8–9. Beginning in the summer of 1941, Einsatzgruppen murdered more than 70,000 Jews at Ponary, outside Vilna (now Vilnius) in Lithuania. They slaughtered 9,000 Jews, half of them children, at the Ninth Fort, adjacent to Kovno (now Kaunas), Lithuania, on October 28. - Encyclopedia Brittanica
All told more than one and a half million Jews died in the Ukraine during the holocaust.
After WW2, the Ukraine was officially an “Atheist” country and religion was repressed.
In 1988 when the Soviet Union was beginning to fracture and an easing of totalitarianism called Perestroika was put in place, Russia returned all church properties to their rightful owners. In the Ukraine this meant a division between Russian and Orthodox churches and congregations battled over which branch of orthodoxy should rule over the parish and para-military groups warring between Russian or Ukrainian allegiance burned down many churches.
Since then the battle for autonomy of the Ukrainian orthodox church from the Russian orthodox has played a major role in conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.

UKRAINE CORRUPTION:
in 2017 the London Guardian proclaimed the Ukraine to be the most corrupt nation in Europe.
Vice president Joe Biden was given the task of “cleaning up” corruption in Ukraine by president Barack Obama. He cleaned up alright. The marriage of the Democrat crime family and the Ukrainian crime family oligarchs was a match made in heaven until the election of Donald Trump.
Trump attempted to bring attention to the corruption in Ukraine and for that the Ukraine government assisted the Democrat crime syndicate in an attempted overthrow of the Trump administration in an impeachment proceeding during an election year which brought Ukraine style corruption into United States government. (or was it visa versa?)

With the American controlled media keeping the public ignorant about Crimea Donetsk and Lutenist and the ongoing conflicts in the Ukraine leading up to the Russian invasions they have been unwitting pawns in supporting the ongoing corruption.
With the New York times admitting that the news media was involved in a great cover up colluding with the FBI and CIA to overthrow president Trump the American people ought to be wise enough to realize that the Ukraine is not a model of democracy and is not the little David standing against Goliath but is a corrupt nation with a history of the worst forms of government and murderous militias and regimes and we should have worked WITH the Russians to improve rather than escalate the tensions in the Ukraine.
And so the Ukraine ought to take the words of Scripture to heart from the prophet Isaiah to Israel.

Such corruption leads to amputation as Isaiah warns in the following verse.
Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.” Isaiah 1:7
The warning does not stop with Judah or the Ukraine – but corruption is the downfall of any nation that forgets God.
If the United States does not learn soon and repent of our national sin and corruption our streets will resemble those of Mariupol.
