Your money says, "In God We Trust" but can God trust you with money?

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? Luke 16:10-11

It is not how much you have, it is what you do with what you have. God does test his children and the most basic test according to Jesus is if we are wise in using money. Perhaps you have never considered that your spending habits might be keeping you from reaping spiritual blessings in this life but that might well be the case.

Money is the means by which we conduct our livelihood. To waste money is to waste time for it takes time to make money. The Bible tells us to "redeem the time" but how can we buy back time? The wise use of money can buy more time. The misuse of money will cost you much time and can enslave you.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (I Timothy 6:10

You need not be rich to be in love with money and it isn't the money itself but also loving the things that money can buy.

If God blesses you with money realize that you are only the "steward" not the owner. God says "The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts." Haggai 2:8 The money you think is "yours" is Gods! He is entrusting it to your care in this world and how you use or abuse it is a test to see if you can be trusted with more important matters because He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:.

Money represents treasure - where and how we spend our money represents what is most treasured by us. The pursuit of things can become idolatry stealing our money, our time, our energy and our focus.

Examine your finances realizing that you are using what belongs to God. Is he pleased? Are you faithful? Do you deserve greater blessing? These days it is more important than ever to be faithful as the world is using money as a means of manipulation and control in ways never before possible. A wise use of money might well become how to become less dependent on it by trading services and commodities and avoiding our dependency on the financial system as much as possible.
